About. rob manthey: composer, pianist, conductor


Rob Manthey was born in New Jersey in the United States. From an early age he was experimenting with various instruments and this soon grew into an interest in composing.

He received a Bachelor of Music in Composition degree from the Indiana University School of Music where he won the Dean's Prize in Undergraduate Composition.  He then went on to pursue a Masters of Music  degree in Composition at Yale University, where after graduating  he taught undergraduate composition in the Yale University Department of Music through 2003.

In 2003 he received a Fulbright Scholarship from the US government to study composition with Louis Andriessen and Richard Ayres at the Royal Conservatory of the Netherlands in the Hague, where he graduated in 2007.   He has been active as a pianist, composer and conductor in various new music concerts, theatrical performances, and other music events in the Netherlands, the US, France, Italy, Puerto Rico, Kenya, and Tanzania amongst others.
